Senior Rail Safety Coordinator

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with a high level of technical ability in Rail Safety to provide expertise guidance and advice to managers, supervisors and rail safety workers in rail safety legislation and application of Queensland Rail Safeworking requirements in Network.

Key responsibilities for this role are (but not limited to):

  • Develop and implement Rail Safety and Safeworking initiatives and strategies across Network and monitor performance to meet prescribed outcomes.

  • Provide professional advice into the design, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Queensland Rail safety management framework and plans, inclusive of methodologies, systems, processes and procedures relating to Network.

  • Provide input to investigations, conduct analysis into Rail Safety trends and prepare comprehensive accurate reports to assist in preventing rail safety incidents.

  • Lead and manage the review, development and implementation of rail safety programs and training for all relevant Network employees to improve safety of individuals and Network.

  • Conduct reviews and provide timely risk based advice and recommendations for improvement to Network management that will inform the Network Assurance program.

  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the Queensland Rail Safety and Environment Management system requirements that relate to Rail Safety and Safeworking.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Extensive knowledge of Rail Safety Legislation and Safeworking principals and Systems.

  • High level of skill in the analysis of rail safety and Safeworking risk, accreditation and compliance exposures, the formulation, implementation of effective corrective strategies, including advocating the evidence of the effectiveness of those strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

  • High level of facilitation, consultation, negotiation, communication and relationship building skills, as shown by establishing effective relationships with senior managers..

  • Substantial knowledge of railway infrastructure, and the environment Track workers operate within and the practices policies, standards and procedures used in planning and control.

  • High level of skill in the design and implementation of integrated Safety Management Systems in accordance with contemporary best practice strategic and operational risk management practices.

  • High level of project management skills and implementation of innovative solutions.

  • Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.

Starting Salary $100,900 plus Superannuation.
