Senior Procurement Specialist/Senior Buyer

 

Queensland Rail is looking for a highly organised individual with outstanding communication skills to join its fast-paced, dynamic procurement team on a permanent basis.  

In this role you procure goods and services of significant value in line with relevant legislation and policy requirements to achieve commercial outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement.

Stakeholder management is critical in this role and the successful applicant will need to have strong communication skills along with the ability to investigate, collate, analyse and present data into meaningful reports for tender evaluations. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Procure relevant goods and services of significant value for portfolio customer in line with relevant legislation and policy requirements to achieve commercial outcomes.
  • Manage day-to-day procurement process activities, including purchasing and payment and maintaining business records, to facilitate the procurement of goods and services.
  • Negotiate prices, contract terms and conditions, and key performance indicators for major goods and services with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved.
  • Review spend analysis, supply sources and supplier information and make recommendations for supplier development or substitution or to improve the value and effectiveness of supplier interactions.
  • Conduct contract reviews to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness and ensure goods and services meet quality requirements as specified in relevant contracts.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with portfolio customers and external suppliers to understand and plan for needs and anticipate future requirements.
  • Develop complex procurement strategies for the relevant portfolio area.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • High level of skill in procurement of goods and services of significant value providing a commercial and customer focused service to relevant portfolio areas within the business.
  • High level of skill in managing tender processes, contract negotiations and contract reviews.
  • Substantial level of interpersonal, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships.
  • Substantial level of skill in conducting contract reviews to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Substantial level of skill in contributing to improving the effectiveness of the procurement process for the relevant portfolio area.
  • Substantial level of skill in planning and implementing strategic and innovative procurement solutions.

Position Description

Starting salary: $110,328 + superannuation
