What will you do?
The position will be in the Power Transmission and Distribution team within Aurecon's Energy Business. You will join our multi-disciplinary team who advises our clients on the development and implementation of power transmission and distribution projects from conception through design, construction, commissioning, and management of the asset through its lifecycle.
The position will provide opportunity to grow and demonstrate your expertise in multiple facets of high voltage engineering, as well as to work with clients who will be key to Australia's energy future. Typical services you will contribute to or lead include:
Scoping, concept, and feasibility level studies for a wide range of power system projects
Planning Australia's high voltage energy networks - upgrade and installation of new power lines and substations to increase system security
System studies for connection of HV network assets, including renewable generators, batteries and synchronous generators
Detailed design of HV networks - overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and substations
Support project implementation through a variety of roles that include detailed design, owner's engineer, lenders engineer and O&M phase support
Specialist design activities such as protection design and settings, SCADA implementation, earthing and insulation coordination
High voltage AC and DC traction engineering, in support of our transport teams
Search for innovative ideas and concepts to further improve delivery processes for the business
We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world's sustainable economic development and it's the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are some of the key things you will need to have in order to 'bring ideas to life':
Able to bring innovation to complex problems using your problem solving and analytical skills
Relevant tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering
Self-motivated and hard-working
Be a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Australia or on the path to becoming Chartered
Highly aligned with many of the Aurecon Attributes - co-creative, commercial, engaging, fearless, inquisitive, resourceful, sense maker, and unconventional thinker
Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times
A willingness to travel with the possibility of taking on site roles
Approximately 5 years post-graduation experience in a role with close contact with the power industry, consulting, or power project developer/owner/operator
Understanding of the project development lifecycle including; development approval, environmental assessment, contracting strategies, procurement processes, commercial agreements, financing and implementation/construction of projects
Knowledge and understanding of electrical infrastructure including reticulation networks, earthing systems, protection, and control systems
General understanding of the National Electricity Rules, grid connection process, relevant Australian Standards and their application as an input to HV network design would be beneficial
