About the role

** This role will be residentially based in Port Hedland.

Reporting to the Asset Services Manager the Advanced Power Worker will:

  • Work within the existing local works delivery team to safely, efficiently and professionally carry out Switching, Capital Works, Maintenance and Customer funded projects on the electrical network as assigned by the Senior Networks Officer.
  • Lead the onsite works team.

The key aspects of the role are:

  • Actively contributing to a personal and corporate safe working environment.
  • Network Switching levels 1 to 4.
  • Constructing, commissioning, maintaining, inspecting, repairing and dismantling of all associated three phase overhead and underground high voltage networks.
  • Constructing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing low voltage networks.
  • Be prepared to be trained in and execute works in renewable technology as and when it becomes available.
  • Plan, Lead, Organise and Control construction and commissioning teams in daily works when required.
  • Operating plant and equipment in accordance with qualifications and standards.
  • Completing work in accordance with relevant instructions, procedures and standards.
  • Completion of data and commissioning sheets (paper or electronic).

About you
In addition to sharing our passion, to be successful in this role you will have:

Essential:
Two of the following qualifications –

  • Certificate III Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) – Distribution Powerline qualification or Australian Linesperson Trade qualification equivalent
  • Certificate III Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) – Transmission Powerline qualification or Australian Linesperson Trade qualification equivalent
  • current WA unrestricted electrical workers licence
  • Certificate three (3) cable jointer.
  • Drivers Licence HR minimum (& prepared to transfer to a WA Heavy Vehicle Licence)
  • High Risk Licences: EWP/WP, Forklift (LF), Dogman (DG), Basic Rigging.
  • Current 1st Aid/Senior 1st Aid
  • Current Pole Top rescue, EWP Rescue, EWP Emergency Decent Device/ Escape

Desired:

  • Low Voltage, High Voltage and Transmission Switching qualifications and/or previous experience in this area
  • Frontline Management units of competency or suitable experience.
  • Cable VLF testing and TDR fault finding experience.
  • Demonstrated and recent experience in Distribution and Transmission Network works.
  • Ability to work well without managerial supervision.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritise work.
  • Be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Prepared to undertake technical training & corporate training as and when required.
