About the opportunity 

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney is consistently ranked in the top 50 engineering and technology universities in the world and the School of Civil Engineering ranks in the top 25 in the world. Applications are invited for the appointment of a professor/associate professor in the area of construction or construction management in the School of Civil Engineering.

We are seeking candidates with an outstanding record of research and scholarship with proven and substantial research expertise in construction management allied to other areas of interest to the school, including, but not limited to, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluids, complex systems and project management.

As the successful candidate, you will have an outstanding track record of research and scholarship, and will bring leadership expertise in construction management related areas including, but not limited to, economic analysis and value management; life cycle costing; disputes; resolving disputes; and negotiations. Other innovative approaches include construction technology, construction robotics, smart construction (technology to improve productivity and safety on site) will also be encouraged.

You will be responsible for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in one or more of the areas of project scope; time and cost management; management of people, quality and risk; contracts formulation and management; project procurement; and tendering and project formulation. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to high standards of teaching and to the maintenance of academic standards in a broadly-based civil engineering school.

As Associate Professor/Professor, you will be expected to widen the research activity of the construction management group, and will also be expected to engage with the wider research community related to construction management within our faculty and other faculties at the University. A strong commitment to engaging the construction community external to the University, including locally, nationally and internationally, will also be welcomed.
