Strategic Communications Lead - 12 month contract | Coal Seam Gas Industry

Arrow Energy is an integrated coal seam gas (CSG) company that explores and develops gas fields, produces and sells CSG and generates electricity.

Arrow produces CSG from fields in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland and the Bowen Basin in central Queensland. We have been safely and sustainably developing CSG since 2000 and supplying it commercially since 2004.

We own one of Queenslands largest power stations, Braemar 2 near Dalby, and we have interests in two others, giving us enough generation capacity to power around 800,000 homes. Arrow is owned by a joint venture company between Shell and PetroChina.

At Arrow, safety is our highest priority, and our values – lead, own, solve, integrate and respect – underpin everything we do.  To meet our growing demands, we are looking for an experienced Strategic Communications Lead to join our team.

It works collaboratively with team specialists in media, branding and digital delivery, community, Indigenous relations and sustainable development, government relations, tenure management and social investment, to ensure an integrated approach is taken with all internal and external communications and to leverage activities with partnerships where possible.

In addition you will:
  • Contribute to positive behaviour across ER&TM, Arrow and to contractors as a visible safety leader.
  • Build and maintain strong and productive relationships with technical and operational specialists across the business, supporting ER&TM to influence project decisions regarding non-technical risks at the outset of activity planning.
  • Plan and execute a range of structured, strategic internal and external communications activities to ensure Arrow maintains strong visibility in its communities of operation and with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and evaluate communication activities to ensure they are cost effective, achieve Arrow’s objectives in terms of stakeholder reach and grow external awareness and acceptance of Arrow’s presence and activities.
  • Concept, research and write a full range of communication materials for print and online delivery internally and externally, that reflect audience needs and appreciate Arrow’s complex external environment and regulatory challenges.
  • Manage corporate/regulatory advertising placement to ensure compliance with regulatory and community expectations.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of Arrow management and with counterparts within industry
  • Extensive experience in the development and execution of communication plans and campaigns
  • Experience in day-to-day issues management in a complex decentralised organisation
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in and understanding of resources sector (in particular, oil and gas, or energy related) and the issues associated with stakeholders will be highly regarded.
In return for your efforts, Arrow Energy is offering an attractive remuneration package, commensurate with your qualifications and experience in addition to employee benefits such as the opportunity to purchase an additional two weeks leave, paid parental leave scheme and access to an employee benefits program which includes insurance, medical and lifestyle subsidies.  All applications will be considered with utmost confidentiality.
