Economic Development Coordinator

Lead and promote sustainable growth, investment, employment and business development within the Banyule municipality.

Banyule City Council’s Economic Development team is primarily responsible for the preparation and implementation of Council’s Economic Development Strategy.  The team deliver strategic insight into the state of the local business sector making recommendations for necessary interventions to strengthen economic outcomes.  The team also establish and influence regional investment outcomes and ensure partnerships are harnessed to ensure optimal sectoral benefit.

As the Economic Development Coordinator you will:

  • Provide leadership to a team of economic development professionals, contractors and retail centre managers
  • Develop, implement and regularly review the annual work plan for the Economic Development Unit
  • Contribute to strategic planning of the City Development Directorate and Environment & Place Department.
  • Develop, monitor & regularly report on the operating budget, Capital works budget and other internal reporting systems
  • Promote Banyule as a place to invest
  • Consult and research the needs of community groups, residents, businesses, Council staff and government agencies on economic development, employment and related policy issues 

About you:

  • Appropriate qualifications and experience in economic development 
  • Experience consulting with stakeholders
  • Experience managing the day-to-day operations of a business unit, including leading and developing teams
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage workflows and work on multiple projects
  • Experience preparing funding applications and managing acquittal processes
  • Sound knowledge of financial, people management and governance principles
  • COVID 19 Vaccination Certificate
