We are seeking a qualified Building Surveyor to take up the position of Municipal Building Surveyor and provide leadership to our Building Services unit.  

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Council’s statutory building control and compliance functions.
• Ensuring applications are processed in accordance with statutory requirements and Council Policy.
• Leading a pro-active and responsive approach with resolving issues, informing and educating the community and building industry stakeholders on Council’s regulatory roles.
• Preparation and monitoring of budgets for the unit and effective financial management of Building Services.
• Ensuring the health and safety of staff in accordance with the appropriate legislation and Council policy and ensure staff are regularly informed on organisation and unit activities.

The successful applicant will possess:

• Relevant qualifications and registration as a Building Surveyor Unlimited with extensive experience in a senior building surveying role.
• High level communication, customer and dispute resolution skills combined with a commitment to delivering an excellent level of service.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Building Acts, Codes and regulations with the ability to read and understand building plans and specification and ability to interpret legislation.
