Mineral Processing Leader (Iron Ore)

The position

An exciting role is available in CSIRO’s Mineral Processing Program to contribute research leadership and innovation expertise to research projects in iron ore.

The successful candidate will draw on technical skills developed through recent previous experience in iron ore processing, sintering and mineralogy. You have high-level client relationship experience in the field and excellent oral and written communication skills. You will also have strong scientific skills, a history of innovation and collaboration, and the drive to challenge current paradigms in mineral processing. You will be plan and lead major projects involving a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to address priority research questions important to the national benefit.

Your duties will include:

  • Contribute to a significant body of research to understand sintering behaviour of Australian iron ores.
  • Promote project management excellence, including meeting CSIRO and external stakeholder resource management and delivery expectations.
  • Communicate research outcomes to internal/external stakeholders through formulation and delivery of project reports, presentations and learned journal publications

Location:           Pullenvale, QLD
Salary:               AU $109K - $128K  plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need:

  • A doctorate, or equivalent research or industry experience, in a field of research appropriate to mineral processing.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering projects with significant impact to the mineral processing or METS sector.
  • Proven technical expertise and experience in complex investigations in mineral processing.
  • Expertise in the sintering behaviour of iron ores or in similar mineral systems.
  • The ability to work effectively as an integral member and/or leader of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team, and ability to foster an environment in which there is a high level of co-operation within and between teams.
