Corporate Safety Coordinator

This role is integral to the efficient operation of the ALDI Safety Department. The role is challenging with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy. You will be working in a fast paced environment and will be in contact with multiple stakeholders. This role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to help build ALDISafety, by assisting with the design and development of policies, guidelines and procedures as well as the implementation of various projects and initiatives.

You will be responsible for:

  • Development of WHS policy, guidelines, procedures and processes
  • Providing guidance, technical advice and continuous support to ALDI staff with respect to work health safety and injury management legislation
  • Administration and support of online WHS reporting and information systems
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders through consultation, training and development, which may include occasional interstate travel
  • Assessing risks within the workplace which includes the auditing of current WHS policies and procedures
  • Ensure all current legislative and ALDI internal requirements are adhered to
  • Completing a variety of project tasks in order to deliver projects within agreed timeframes
  • Providing implementation support for projects and managing ongoing business as usual (BAU) support post-implementation

Selection Criteria:

The following are inherent requirements

  • Experience in developing and creating WHS policy and procedures
  • Experience working with Work Health Safety IT systems (ie. Cintellate, Injury Connect, Onsite Track Easy) and ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Qualifications in  Work Health Safety (Minimum Cert IV, University qualifications desirable)
  • Experience in providing Work Health Safety advice across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proven organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • A team player, able to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience using Microsoft Office
  • Results and solutions orientated
  • Experience in completing and reviewing risk assessments relating to plant, chemical and adhoc tasks
  • Safety/WHS Experience in heavy industry, FMCG, Transport

The following are desirable requirements

  • AS/NZS 4801 Lead Auditor Certification
  • Experience in working in confined space, working at heights, hazardous chemical management
  • Experience in developing and implementing risk management frameworks
  • Basic understanding of how noise and thermal environments impact workers
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS Act, WHS Regulations and Codes of Practice
  • Experience working as a WHS Consultant across a broad range of industries
  • Experience managing return to work and workers compensation
