About Cape Byron Power

Cape Byron Power, operated by Cape Byron Management, consists of two biomass fired power stations, on the NSW north coast: Broadwater 38MW and Condong 30MW both located about 45 minutes either side of Byron Bay. Together, these form one of the largest renewable base load generators in Australia.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the day to day running of the Cape Byron Power assets in accordance with good utility practice and ensuring CBM’s continued compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. 

The Senior Electrical Engineer, working across both sites, leads the electrical and I&C team by example with fairness, ethics and integrity. This includes a commitment to safety leadership and ensuring a non-discriminatory culture.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Maintaining the procedures and standards for work relating to all electrical and control equipment
  • Ensuring the plants remain in compliance with Generation License, Australian Energy Market Rules, Laws and Regulations. 
  • Direct management of the electrical, instrument and control aspects of the operations and maintenance teams 
  • Managing the delivery of the services to the agreed budget. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • Appropriate qualifications as an Electrical Engineer (degree minimum)
  • A commitment to safety whilst encouraging the safe working practices of others
  • Electrical works planning and supervision experience
  • Project controls and administration experience
  • Suitable experience to demonstrate the essential skills
  • Proven delivery focus
  • Experience with the creation of and compliance with safe access rules and procedures
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintenance and CAPEX investment planning and delivery experience
  • The ability to influence outcomes through others.
