The role: 

Our Building Engineering team in Adelaide is growing, with an exciting mix of projects within the Buildings, Mining/Industrial and Transport sectors currently being delivered. We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join us. Agile in approach, you are flexible and thrive on the technical challenges and dynamics of working on multiple projects; you provide superior service to clients and develop great relationships.

As a strong all-rounder, you will have experience in buildings (commercial and education), mining/ industrial and transport/civil structures.  You will work on client sites undertaking a range of activities and completing analysis and design work in our office. As part of a close knit and collaborative team, great communication skills and a supportive and engaging approach are essential.

 To be successful in this role you will:

  • Provide technical expertise to clients
  • Liaise with clients to understand and manage their needs and deliver projects on time
  • Provide design, documentation and construction contract management of structural engineering projects
  • Prepare technical reports and specifications
  • Undertake computer aided modelling, analysis and design of structures
  • Manage projects including scheduling and preparation of project budgets

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a consultancy environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships
  • Analysis and design experience across a range of structures
  • A good understanding of relevant Australian Standards and other relevant building codes for the analysis and design of structures
  • Proficiency in a range of software packages for modelling, analysis and design of structures
  • Previous experience in managing and delivering a range of projects on time and within budget
  • Sound written communication skills with the ability to prepare a range of business documentation to a high standard
  • Tertiary qualifications in structural/civil engineering
  • The ability to travel to client sites and GHD offices as required

Whilst not essential eligibility for Chartered Status (CPEng) will be highly regarded.
