As the successful candidate you will work in a team of engineers and technical officers to secure radiofrequency spectrum for current and future Defence satellite systems.  The successful candidate will be required to perform technical analyses and to be able to negotiate with the satellite operators of other countries to ensure that current Defence satellites are able to operate without interference, and that sufficient satellite spectrum is secured to strategically meet future Defence requirements.  The successful candidate will also be required to liaise with various government departments to advocate for Defence on the technical and regulatory framework that supports Defence satellite systems in an environment whereby Defence is facing increasing competition for spectrum resources from both future proposed satellite systems and the ever-increasing trend for more spectrum for mobile broadband.

Good technical and communication skills are therefore essential.  Opportunities will exist for international travel to support these objectives, including the potential for participating in International Telecommunication Union activities. The ideal applicant will have experience in the field of radio communications, however all engineering qualified applicants possessing a willingness to learn and participate in an environment of feedback, coaching, and team peer review will be considered. Various training opportunities will also be available to the successful applicant.  If this interests you, be sure to submit your application.
