Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres and within a range of diverse environmental conditions, ranging from the arid dry of the central desert to the tropical monsoon of the top end. The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water and wastewater treatment services across the Northern Territory (NT) for the benefit of residents, including remote and isolated Aboriginal communities and outstations.

Northern Territory Electricity System and Market Operator (NTESMO), is a ring fenced business operating within the Power and Water Corporation. NTESMO performs the System Controller and Market Operator functions for the regulated Northern Territory power systems, and is responsible for technical implementation of NTG policy associated with Northern Territory electricity market priority reforms which includes achieving a 50% renewable energy objective by 2030. The power system is currently undergoing substantial evolution with the increased integration of renewable technologies and this requires the development and implementation of innovative tools and systems to equip the System Controllers with the means to preserve power system security.

NTESMO is seeking highly motivated and experienced applicants for the position of Team Lead Electricity Market Systems to work within the Electricity Market and Reform Team. This presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Power System Engineer to join our innovative engineering team responsible for solving a diverse range of engineering challenges whilst leading a specialised team developing and implementing of fit for purpose technology, tools and systems to manage power system security within the evolving power systems. 

You are ready to take your next step as a Senior Power System Engineer with recognised skills and capabilities to motivate, lead and develop a specialised engineering team toward success. You hold an Engineering degree recognised for Professional Membership with Engineers Australia. You have demonstrated knowledge and experience within the electricity supply industry, power system configuration, power system optimisation and planning of power systems. You also have experience and understanding of the operational technologies that support the management of power systems. Understanding of relevant regulated power system industry, electricity market operation, and electricity market rules specific to the Northern Territory is desirable. Your technical project management capabilities set you apart to lead the delivery of a range of specialised projects that will enhance NTESMO’s capability to securely manage evolving power systems. Importantly, you have a passion and desire to drive the transformation of the electricity power systems toward a more sustainable future state.
