About the business

The Shire of Narembeen is a local government area located 286kms east of Perth, Narembeen is the main town site in the Shire. It has a variety of industries and is surrounded by grains, sheep and cattle farming. It has a supermarket, post office, café, gift and pharmacy store, hardware, Community Resource Centre, hotel, hairdresser, bank, newsagency, police station, Volunteer Emergency Services, caravan park, transport, engineering and agriculture related businesses, mechanic, beauty salon, carpenter, plumber, pub, Club facility, panelbeater and roadhouse. 

There is mobile phone coverage with ADSL internet available, so too an airstrip. A new Recreation Centre which hosts football, hockey, cricket, tennis and new bowling greens. Nearby netball and basketball courts are adjacent to the Narembeen Aquatic Centre, which hosts swimming lessons, an Amateur Swim Club and family recreation space. An 18 hole golf course is located near Wadderin and a ski lake east of the town site.

The Shire of Narembeen is a small local government but has a thriving community and provides a great place to live.

The key objectives of this position include:

  • Inspect machinery and develop a scope of repairs
  • Diagnose and fault find operator complaints.
  • Complete service reports of performed tasks and assist in the maintenance of plant and equipment files
  • Use initiative and make technical and operational decisions in relation to own work.

Skills and experience

  1. Mechanical Trade qualifications - with a minimum of three years working as a pant mechanic on earthmoving and road building equipment
  2. Must hold a current unrestricted 'HR' class drivers licence. with a preference for a 'HC'.
