Shipping Australia has announced the appointment of Commodore Rod Nairn as interim CEO in the lead up to Llew Russel’s retirement this year.

A career Navy man, Mr Nairn has been in the service since 1975, having held four ship commands over his distinguished career.

“Rod will remain with the Navy until end of April and in the interim, he will spend time familiarising himself with the requirements of the position, the current issues we have and the challenges faced by the association as well as meeting our regular contracts,” Chairman Ken Fitzpatrick said.

“I am extremely pleased that Rod is undertaking these familiarisation briefings prior to taking up the position of acting CEO. HE will be a credit to SAL and will strengthen its capabilities. I wish him every success in the future,” Mr Russell said.
