The South Australian Government has announced construction on the new Mining and Engineering Centre at TAFE SA Regency Park campus has begun.

State Minister for Higher Education and Skills, Grace Portolesi, said that the new centre will be a boon training and employment throughout the state.

“Once it is completed, the Centre will see over 3000 students using these facilities during their training in mining and allied industries,” Ms Portolesi said.

“South Australia is increasingly recognised as a centre of mining excellence and mining will play an important role in our economic future.

“Through the courses offered at this new state of the art facility people will be trained with the skills they need to take advantage of the great employment opportunities offered in mining and associated sectors

Programs that will be offered at the Mining and Engineering Centre include:

  • Heavy Vehicle Transport and Diesel Mechanics;
  • Geo Science and Mining;
  • Mechanical and Civil Engineering;
  • Surveying and Spatial Information Services;
  • Welding and Fabrication; and
  • Automotive and Light Vehicle Transport.
