Mechanical Engineering Lead

The opportunity:  

Visy Glass is Australia and New Zealand's largest manufacturer of recycled glass bottles and jars consisting of 5 plants across Australia and New Zealand.  

Reporting to Head of Engineering, this pivotal role leads the mechanical technical direction for Visy Glass who are leading the charge for industry firsts in Australia.  You will drive and carry out end to end project engineering activities for major projects in this team of can-do people.  Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Engineers and Designers.  
  • Develop scope of work and cost estimates for major projects. 
  • Plan and facilitate the mechanical engineering design associated with major upgrades and modifications.  
  • Assist with the procurement of equipment and services. 
  • Assist with commissioning and execution of capital works. 
  • Finalising documentation of plant and equipment changes. 

Please note that work related travel will be required for this position (Australia and NZ). 

What you will bring to the team:  

  • Mechanical Engineering degree and Charted Engineering Status (or ability to obtain). 
  • Ten years plus experience in a project engineering role, preferably in the industrial space.  Experience with a 24/7 continuous process operation facility is an advantage. 
  • Broad experience in design through to execution (including on site works). 
  • Strong leadership, solutions focused and experience managing technical teams (or ready to take the next step in your career). 
  • Effective in communication and stakeholder management?at all levels. 
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) 
  • Experience in AutoCAD. 
  • Utilizing your skills to improve our factories to more sustainable operations
