Civil Inspector

About the role

The Civil Inspector is responsible for maintaining and promoting quality control of road, drainage and concrete construction carried out by Contractors, ensuring all works are in accordance with approved plans, specifications, standards and contract conditions.  Ensuring adherence to Council OH&S requirements, completing purchase orders and monitoring costs through program spreadsheets are essential elements of this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise work of contractors to ensure compliance with standards and that all works meet contract conditions.
  • Monitor construction techniques to ensure they are safe and in accordance with relevant requirements and legislation.
  • Provide updates on progress of programs.
  • Assist in assessing construction plans prior to project implementation.
  • Complete orders and payments and monitor progressive costs.

Key skills and attributes

  • Several years experience in civil construction works.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, contractors, consulting engineers and customers.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and prioritise own workload.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
