As Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic you will provide an efficient, safe and effective maintenance and repair service for Council’s fleet of vehicles, mobile plant, fixed plant and equipment
You are also required to:
Undertake routine servicing, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, mobile and fixed associated plant and equipment
Provide advice to customers on maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment, ensuring all maintenance and repairs are carried out in a safe and effective manner
Regularly identify and report on the safety aspects of the position and unit with a view to assist in the continuous improvement of work procedures
Maximise the utilisation of plant infrastructure and equipment by keeping it in good working order, sourcing parts as required
This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $83,067 per annum + 11 % superannuation and a monthly accrued day off. Work hours are 7am-43pm Monday to Friday - excellent if you have school pick up or just extra time to yourself in the afternoon.
You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable Tooronga Depot office which is located next to Tooronga Train station and walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre. As a permanent employee you also get access to our wellbeing program and employee assistance counselling program.

Experienced in the operation of specialised machinery such as milling machine and lathe
Competent in welding with both mig and arc welders
Ability to work in cooperation with other employees and contractors including being able to discuss and resolve problems
Competent in the safe operation of machining equipment
Knowledge and experience in service and maintenance of heavy plant and equipment, passenger vehicles and small plant and equipment. (This includes work on petrol and diesel motors, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, work with electronic equipment, electric and electronic components and transmissions
Understanding of vehicle safety standards
Ability to drive and operate a range of Council plant and equipment in a safe manner
A current Victorian Drivers License with a current Heavy Rigid License Endorsement
A knowledge of hydraulics is highly desirable
